About Robert Sprague


Robert Sprague serves as State Representative for the 83rd Ohio House District. In the Legislature, Robert helped eliminate an $8 Billion budget shortfall while cutting taxes for working Ohioans by nearly $5 billion. He also sponsored an amendment to eliminate Ohio’s Death Tax. For his efforts, Robert received the “Watchdog of the Treasury” Award from the United Conservatives of Ohio.

Robert is strongly pro-life, has been a leader in protecting the rights of the unborn, and was a co-sponsor of Ohio’s “Heartbeat” bill. Robert is also a staunch defender of our Second Amendment rights and has received an A- rating from the NRA.

During his legislative service, Robert has led the effort to combat Ohio’s heroin and opioid epidemic – helping to pass 14 bills to address this terrible problem that is destroying lives and ravaging our communities.

Prior to his service in the Ohio House, Robert Sprague served as Treasurer and Auditor for the City of Findlay. Robert helped Findlay improve its credit rating and lower its debt service costs. He also created the City’s first Annual Financial Report to help taxpayers understand City finances.


Prior to his entry into public service, Robert cut his teeth in the private sector, serving as a management consultant at Ernst & Young. Robert advised companies from London to Singapore and throughout the United States on a number of complex business matters. Robert’s strong background in business and finance has helped him to be a problem-solving leader in the Ohio House, where he has developed real-world solutions to real-world problems – tackling the difficult issues that Ohio businesses and families face every day.


Robert graduated from Duke University with a BSE in mechanical engineering, and also has his MBA from the University of North Carolina, where he graduated 7th in his class. Robert currently resides in his hometown of Findlay with his wife, Amanda, and their five children – Cole, Davis, Graham, Tate, and Mary Hannah. They are members of Gateway Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
